Overview & Highlights

Situated in the heart of Curtin, Namaste India Restaurant offers an exquisite journey through authentic Indian cuisine, right in Canberra. This vibrant dining spot stands out with its masterful blend of traditional flavors and fresh ingredients, promising a feast that excites the senses and leaves a lasting impression.

The menu is a treasure trove of Indian culinary delights. Among the highlights, the Pulao selections – including Peas Pulao, Kashmiri Pulao, and Jeera Pulao – provide a fragrant, comforting base, each infused with delicate spices and aromatic herbs. For seafood lovers, dishes like the Prawn/Fish Achari and Prawn/Fish Malabar shine brilliantly. The Achari features king prawns or fish sautéed in a tangy five-spice sauce with fresh coriander, offering a vibrant, mouthwatering experience. Meanwhile, the Malabar’s mild coconut milk curry, seasoned with curry leaves and mustard seeds, provides a beautifully layered taste that's both soothing and indulgent. The Goan Fish Curry, gluten-free and rich with mustard seeds and tomato-based gravy, is a masterpiece of coastal Indian cuisine.

Complementing these are thoughtfully prepared rice options, from simple large rice servings to delicately aromatic saffron and coconut-infused varieties. Each dishes’ presentation is as pleasing as its flavor, reflective of the care and passion that goes into the kitchen.

Customers consistently praise Namaste India for its authentic flavors that break away from the monotonous taste found in many commercial Indian eateries. Ranga Parimala notes that every curry offers distinctive, memorable flavors rather than a generic blend, while Sohag Vyas describes the meal as soul-satisfying and “next level,” especially highlighting dishes like Shahi Paneer and Dal Tadka.

The atmosphere at Namaste India is warm, inviting, and elegant, making it perfect for intimate dinners or lively group celebrations. While some guests have noted that chair comfort might be improved for longer, relaxed conversations, the overall experience is one of hospitality and attentiveness. The attentive yet unobtrusive staff enhance the dining experience, delivering service with genuine warmth and professionalism.

It’s no surprise that reviews laud not just the cuisine but the entire ambience – from the neat and clean environment praised by Dixon Thankachan to the beautifully arranged space highlighted by RA Cro. Special occasions, such as the baby welcome party organized by Minakshi Sanan, also showcase the restaurant’s ability to create memorable events backed by delicious fare and attentive service.

Namaste India Restaurant is undeniably a jewel for anyone craving authentic, richly flavored Indian cuisine in Canberra. Whether you are a longtime fan of Indian food or a curious newcomer, this restaurant promises a meal that is both deeply satisfying and beautifully authentic.

Ok it is by far the best curries outside my family kitchen! The dishes all had distinctive flavours rather than the melange of flavours one tends to get in commercial Indian restaurant where everything tastes and smells the same. The wait staff were kind and patient with our table. I would suggest the chairs could be reconsidered, they weren’t very comfortable for a chilled conversation and mb the tables could be just a wee bit bigger or a square sitting for 4 people? Will be going back here, and hope Namaste remain successful for many years to come.

We have been here several times. Each time we’ve ordered different dishes. We tried the banquet was very generous with many different dishes including chicken tandoori, Punjabi eggplant masala, lamb Rogan Josh, palak paneer and so many varieties of Naan . It included a delicious dessert of kulfi and there were other dessert choices. We could not eat all the food because there was so much. We’ve also had lamb biryani , mixed vegetables, saffron rice and coconut rice. Everything has been delicious with generous servings and the right amount of chilli on request. The service is really good , fast delivery of food and they even made me a special drink on request. I highly recommend Namaste Indian restaurant.

Without a doubt the best Indian food I've ever had. Excellent variety of dishes, including unique options. A huge variety of vegetarian options also available. Staff were attentive without being intrusive and were good natured. To top it off, the restaurant space is fitted out beautifully. Well done. I will definitely be back.

Thank you so much for organising such a wonderful party for my baby’s welcome! Everything was perfectly planned and beautifully arranged. The food was absolutely delicious, and every guest couldn’t stop praising it. The staff were so helpful and welcoming, making the whole experience even more special. We’re extremely happy and grateful for such a successful celebration, and we look forward to having more events with you in the future

This restaurant deserves more than 5 stars !! Awesome food. We were extremely delighted to have dinner after long drive from Melbourne. We walked out with tummy and soul both full. Do visit this restaurant whenever in Canberra. Shahi paneer, Dal Tadka were next level. We wanted to have lunch next before leaving Canberra but unfortunately they were only opened for dinner on weekends. There is always next time !!
